The Demos

Take some authentic country, add a dash of retro rhythm 'n blues, blend in a pinch of tremolo-tinged surf. Then ask four seasoned musicians to make it sound good, and voila! you're talking The Demos. Rarely does such a diverse range of music happen in one place at one time, but this group makes it all feel smooth and sound natural.

Kenny Blackwell. Best known as a high profile West Coast mandolinist, Kenny has returned to his retro/rock guitar stylings to form The Demos. His background includes studio and live work with the likes of Linda Ronstadt, Johnny Rivers and Neil Diamond. He also helped found the popular California bluegrass band, The Laurel Canyon Ramblers.

Wally Barnick. Bassist/Vocalist Wally Barnick's group Cache Valley Drifters have delighted acoustic and bluegrass audiences on the west coast and as far afield as Europe for decades. Check out Wally's solo CD titled View from Lafler Canyon.

Greg Astle. Drummer Greg Astle lays down the band's groove with a background as diverse as the group's song list. Greg spent his early musical years recording and performing with Chuck Berry, The Righteous Brothers and even did a stint as one of Dick Dale's Deltones!

Steel Guitar. Steel duties are rounded out by three of our favorite side men. Gary Roda is long time friend of The Demos and a key figure in the early country-rock scene in San Luis Obispo. Kirk Eipper brings rockin' steel and slide stylings from the SoCal country-rock scene. Danny Naccarato is a Texas veteran with an authentic steel twang that ranges from Janie Fricke to Johnny Lee.
